Programme for Active Learning
PAL (Programme for Active Learning) is one of the recommendations of the Primary Education Review and Implementation (PERI) Committee to raise primary education to a new level, focusing more on engaged learning and teaching the whole child via a strong teacher and pupil relationship, and equipping our young with the necessary skills and values to thrive in a fast-changing and globalised future. It aims to address the greater emphasis on non-academic programmes within the curriculum. Hence, PAL is an integral part of the curriculum for all Primary 1 and Primary 2 pupils. It offers learning experiences that are active, hands-on and meaningful. It creates a platform for the development of soft skills in our pupils such as the ability to communicate clearly and cooperate with others in a respectful manner, having a lively curiosity about the world they live in and a belief in their ability to accomplish a task or deal with a challenge. PAL is delivered through modules of activities in two broad areas: Sports and Outdoor Education, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. These modules will enrich our pupils’ experiences in the moral, physical, aesthetics, social and emotional domains of learning for a holistic education.
